With stable catches of about 15 to 20 tons Numedalslågen is rated as one of Norway`s 5 best salmon rivers every year. Brufossfisket organizes 40 landowners on both banks of the upper 12 km of the salmonbearing section of Numedalslågen. The provision of well organized and reasonable sports angling for the public has a long tradition here. There is no form of occupational fishing on this stretch. We also aim to make it possible for others - as well as the fishermen - to experience nature and animal life along the river banks.

The fishing season in Numedalslågen for 2011 from the mouth of the river at Larvik and up to Holmfoss lasts from May 10th to August 20th inclusive, and from upstream Holmfoss to Hvittingfoss from the 10th June to 31st August inclusive. The salmon usually arrives at Kjærrafossen at the beginning of June and at Brufoss from the middle of June.

Important news! From the season of 2011 bag limit are introduced in Numedalslågen. Each angler got a personal bag limit of 2 salmon per day, and a season bag limit of 7 salmon.

Fishing opportunities vary somewhat on the different beats according to fluctuations in the water flow. Numedalslågen is a large river with a relatively stable water flow throughout the season, but there are some variations due to snow melting, rain or energy production.
